If you’re flying with KLM you need to know their baggage allowance before you arrive at the airport or you could be in a for costly surprise. KLM are one of the more generous airlines when it comes to what size and weight luggage you can take on their services. Depending the ticket type and route you have booked will determine your luggage allowance and associated charges for extra luggage.

KLM Excess Baggage Charges

If you do need to carry more bags than are included in your ticket you can pre-book online, or pay at the airport. As with most airlines, it is significantly cheaper to arrange your KLM excess baggage in advance and pre-book online. A 70 EUR charge is reduced to 45 EUR if pre-booked and a 40 EUR excess baggage charge just 25 EUR when pre-booked online.

KLM Infant Luggage Allowance

Adults travelling with children under the age of 2 are permitted to carry 1 additional item of hand baggage (standard size) and 1 additional item of check-in baggage (max 10kg). Children over 2 years old who have their own ticket / seat have the same standard baggage allowance as adult tickets.

KLM have launched an app that allows its customers to measure their luggage. The App is currently only available to iPhone users and is expected to be launched for Android users soon.
