Nevada Mini Guide
Nevada is a desert state which is best known for having legalised gambling and created the entertainment paradise of Las Vegas. Within Nevada are the other fun loving cities of Reno and Lake Tahoe where gambling is also allowed, while the capital of this large state is Carson City. Many people come to Nevada each year to take part in the Burning Man festival which is held at Black Rock City.
Bordered by California and Utah, Nevada mainly lies within the Great Basin, a massive area in America which spans a few states, all of which do not drain out to sea. The Great Basin National Park is an interesting place to visit though you must come prepared for absolutely any kind of weather due to the effect of the varying terrain on the climate.
Car rental Las Vegas
is the best way to visit the city. Las Vegas has been made famous by many movies but in real life it is even stranger than fiction. Within the bright lights of Vegas itself (so bright that they can in fact be seen from space) most people choose to visit the world famous Vegas casinos of the Bellagio
and the MGM Mirage. At these great establishments all are welcome and average people mix with top notch card sharks as everyone tries to get lucky.
Venturing out of Las Vegas there are some stunning sights to see such as the Hoover Dam and the nearby Lake Mead, the largest man made water reservoir in the world. When construction of the Hoover Dam was finished in 1935 it was the world’s largest concrete structure and served its purpose of taming the Colorado River. Having a hire car in Las Vegas also allows you to see some amazing areas in the surrounding Mojave Desert such as the Floyd Lamb Park at Tule Springs and the Las Vegas Springs Preserve.
