Whilst we hope that you don’t encounter a police car for the wrong reasons when on holiday, it’s wise to understand some of the local customs that are likely different from home, wherever in the world home might be. For example, did you know that in Cyprus the police drive with their blue lights flashing whilst driving at all times, whether in an emergency or not, you’ll know they’re responding to an emergency if the sirens are sounding or if they are flashing their headlights to get your attention.

It’s not only police cars either that you need to familiarize yourself with, some countries use a variety of different police vehicles with motorcycles proving very popular, but it doesn’t stop there. Belgium have a police limousine in operation, officers in London will often be seen getting around the busy streets by bicycle. Officers in Uruguay might pay you a visit on a Segway, whilst the Belarus police force even have a police tractor!
