Can I book a rental car for someone else?

There might be a time when you need (or want) to book and pay for a rental car for someone else, so all they have to do is turn up, sign the paperwork, pick up the keys and drive off. Sounds simple enough, but is it as straight forward as that? Well, yes it can be with Rhino. Our rental cars are pre-paid in the vast majority of cases and the payment card used to secure the rental on our website does NOT have to match the payment card used for security at pick-up.

When booking a rental car on our website, we do require the details (name, email and telephone number) of the main driver. That doesn’t mean that the main driver has to make the reservation, or indeed pay for it. If you are booking a rental car on behalf of someone else, it’s important to note that it is your responsibility to obtain permission from the main driver to use their details on our website as per our privacy policy.

Can I pay for car hire for someone else?

You can use a debit card to book car hire or credit card on our website which does NOT have be in the same name as the main driver. However as per the terms of the rental (you will have ticked to confirm acceptance of the rental terms on behalf of the main driver), the main driver is required to present a valid credit card IN THEIR NAME when collecting the car.

If you are booking a rental car for someone else, perhaps a son or daughter who is under 25, a young driver surcharge will apply, so whilst you can pay for the base rental in advance, the young driver surcharge will need to be paid locally on arrival. It is also your responsibility to ensure that the names driver for whom you are booking the rental car meets the requirements as set out in the terms and conditions of the rental, for example confirming they do not have too many points on their license or a drink driving conviction that might affect their ability to hire a car.

Can I pay for car hire extras for someone else?

Unfortunately not, as all car hire optional extras are paid directly to the rental agent on arrival, these must be paid for by the main driver. You can reserve optional extras (additional driver, baby seat etc) when making the car rental booking for someone else, but they will be charged locally.
