Murcia San Javier Airport closed January 2019

The Spanish National Government has confirmed that the last flight into Murcia - San Javier Airport (MJV) will be on the 14th January 2019. All scheduled flights after this date will be automatically transferred to Corvera Airport (RMU).

It’s long been known that Murcia-San Javier Airport’s days have been numbered and its closure is now only a matter of months away. The new Murcia Corvera Airport (Región de Murcia International Airport – RMU) is set to welcome it’s first passenger flights in January 2019 where services to Murcia San-Javier Airport (MJV) will draw to a close. The airport won’t close as such as it will still operate in a military capacity (it is a joint military / civilian facility at present), however commercial flights will no longer use the facility into Murcia. EasyJet and Ryanair  are among the first airlines to confirm flights to the new facility and bookings can now be taken for flights from both from a number of airports across the UK, primarily from Gatwick Airport with EasyJet and Dublin with Ryanair although it is expected that other London and regional airports that operate routes to San-Javier like Bristol, Manchester and Birmingham will follow suit in due course.
