We’ve all been sat in the airport staring at the screens looking for our flights and if you’re not looking for the name of your airline, or destination name, it’s often the airport code you’ll see, more commonly known as the IATA airport code (location identifier). It’s a 3 letter code designating airports all over the world as defined by the International Air Transport Association. Originating in the 1930’s to help pilots identify locations easily, they usually reference the name of the city where the airport is.
