Zaragoza Airport Mini Guide
Background to Zaragoza Airport
Zaragoza was the airport of choice for over 500,000 people last year flying to this part of Spain. Originally it was an air force base then became home to the USAF during the cold war and was eventually demilitarised ready for use as a commercial airport. Today the airport offers modern facilities
Getting There
It’s a favourite airport of budget airlines with Ryanair, Wizzair and others flying here. All flights are scheduled and come from a variety of countries across Europe including the
UK. Some of the flights to the Spanish islands are seasonal. If arriving by car there’s plenty of parking here near the terminal building.
Where Next?
Once you’ve landed you’ll be looking for the best way to get to your destination. Three options exist here. A bus route runs from the airport via a number of stops to Zaragoza bus station. From here it’s possible to catch a range of local and regional buses to get you to your destination. Taxis are available from the airport and as you’re only ten miles from the city centre, fares should be in the region of around €30 – 40. Finally, and the best option, is to pre-book a hire car. This will get you the best deal and once the remaining paperwork is completed at the desks in the arrivals hall, you’ll be able to get to the city via the access roads to the A2 and N125 then onto the A68.
Allow about twenty minutes for your journey. At most times the airport isn’t overly busy and you’ll not have to wait long to collect your car but gauge the traffic and maybe send someone through whilst you collect baggage.
Finding Your Way Around the Airport
If you need assistance, head for one of the three information desks in the main arrivals and departure area. Here they can help you find your way around, document lost luggage and give you bus routes, timetables and sell you bus tickets.
If you need cash or to exchange your currency for euros, there’s a branch of Euro 6000 plus a couple of ATMs around the airport.
For those of you keen to spend your last holiday euro or to buy last minute essentials there is but one shop here. The shop sells newspapers and magazines and has a duty free section. Here you can buy some Spanish wine and sherry together with other alcohol products, stock up on cigarettes and buy small gifts, chocolate and electrical products but that’s all.
If you’re hungry, again you have little choice – it’s either packaged snacks from the newsagents or a small selection of hot meals and snacks from the airport’s self-service cafeteria. They do serve some nice light meals based on local cuisine but don’t expect silver service. They also serve hot, cold and alcoholic drinks.
Passengers in need of medical assistance will need to contact a member of staff who will find someone to help you.
If you’ve brought your laptop with you then you can access the internet via the airport’s chargeable hotspot.
Passengers Requiring Extra Assistance
If you have reduced mobility and want assistance at the airport you’ll need to complete an online request form. Once at the airport, contact someone at the special PRM assistance points who will then take you through the airport’s checking in procedure. Don’t forget you’ll need to inform the airline for any in flight assistance you need.
Car hire from Zaragoza Airport costs from as little as £99 per week. Use the great road links from the airport to explore the province of Aragon or ski the Spanish slopes of the Pyrenees or head for the ski resorts of Andorra.
There's a range of vehicles you can choose from and if considering a ski trip we can supply a ski rack as an optional extra. If travelling with a young family, we can also supply booster seats or child seats to keep them safe. Remember to book early to secure these options and to take advantage of our online special offers.
