Verona Airport Mini Guide
What’s the Attraction of Verona?
There are two major reasons why people travel to Verona, the first is that it was the setting for Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet although most of the sights linked with the story have been fabricated to make a fast euro. The second is that Verona is close to Venice meaning that you can benefit from lower flight prices and accommodation and simply use your Verona Airport hire car to get you to the city. Verona has plenty of other attractions including the third largest Roman amphitheatre in the world. To get reduced cost entry to the city’s attractions, pick up a ‘Verona Card’ from any tourist office and some of the major hotels.
So how do I get to Verona Airport?
Getting there is surprisingly simple and can be very cheap. Flights from all over Europe go there and there are many from the UK; from the luxury of BA from Gatwick to the no frills flight from the same airport with easyJet. Monarch fly from Manchester and Ryanair fly from Stansted and Edinburgh. Additionally, Thomson has charter flights from several UK airports. Getting into Verona from the airport is simple too with buses and taxis available whilst those who are collecting pre-booked hire cars from Verona Airport will appreciate the simple road layout from the airport to the city centre.
What’s the Airport Like?
It’s big and busy having been expanded twice in the last two decades. In 2006 a complete new terminal was built for arrivals whilst the old Catullo dual purpose terminal was then extended and dedicated to departures, doubling capacity. On arrival you’ll notice how bright and spacious the new terminal is whilst conditions for departing passengers were improved in the revamp despite the age of the terminal building.
What are the Facilities Like at the Airport?
You wouldn’t believe the facilities for a medium sized airport. There are over forty shops, bars and restaurants so you are spoiled for choice in shopping and eating. There’s a bank and a currency exchange facility as well as several ATMs. The airport’s information desk is easily located should you need help and the car hire desks, important for arriving passengers are also obvious once you come into the arrivals hall.
