Polish Toll Roads – A guide to toll roads in Poland

There are only a small number of motorways in Poland, but it is important to know that they all have a toll charge. The motorways carrying a toll charge are the A1, A2, A4 and A8. The conditions of the roads in Poland are relatively good and access around Poland and to the German border is now possible with a recent motorway.

How are the tolls charged in Poland?
 
There are two systems for collecting tolls in Poland:

1. The open system. These tolls are collected on the motorways from a toll -booth.
2. The closed system. These tolls are collected through the viaTOLL electronic system.

The toll you pay depends on the type of vehicle and the distance travelled. This can make travelling around Poland cheaper than other neighbouring countries, which have the vignette system. Only certain sections of the motorways are charged.

What are the main toll roads in Poland?

• A1: Rusocin, Stanisławie, Swarożyn, Pelplin, Kopytkowo, Warlubie, Nowe Marzy, Lisewo, Lubicz, Nowa Wieś
• A2: Konin, Września, Poznań, Nowy Tomyśl
• A4: Katowice, Myslowice, Jaworzno, Chrzánóv, Kreszowice, Kraków

Toll charges in Poland:

• For private cars on the A1 up to 3.5ft the cost is 3.50 - 29.90 PLN
• For private cars on the A2 up to 3.5ft the cost is 15 PLN per section
• For private cars on the A4 up to 3.5ft the cost is 4.5 PLN per section

It is possible to pay the toll in PLN, USD or the EURO and credit cards are accepted in some places.
