Antalya in Turkey is such a popular holiday destination that it is known as the Turkish Riviera. One of the reasons for this is the friendliness of the people, another is how well developed Antalya is as it consists of many great bars, cafes and restaurants.
Antalya has its own airport which can be accessed regularly from Istanbul
and other Turkish cities while there are also a lot of charter flights from European countries such as the United Kingdom
with companies like Thomson.
Turkish Airlines are the main carrier to operate at Antalya Airport while Aeroflot also has flights to Antalya from Moscow
It is a good idea to have a car when arriving at Antalya Airport as it is about 10 kilometres outside of Antalya itself. Rhino car representatives can meet you at the airport whenever your flight gets in and show you to your vehicle. You should probably avoid driving in the city centre though as its gets busy and parking is not easy. If you have to park get a map and ask locals for advice as the wardens are quite strict.
Once you find somewhere suitable to park you will enjoy walking around Antalya. There are some nice sights to see including the Hadrianus Wall built by the Roman emperor Hadrianus, and Kaleiçi, which is the old quarter.
You will see lots of mosques, minarets and towers while strolling through the old quarter. If you are interested in archaeology and history there are a few decent museums as well. You might also wish to take the time to shop for some gifts and souvenirs while here as there are plenty of traders offering local arts and crafts.
Temperatures are excellent in Antalya during the summer and due to its position on the Mediterranean Sea it never gets really cold there. Summers can be boiling hot so having a car with air conditioning is a must, especially if you want to take the time to see some impressive surrounding areas.
Go to Kemer in the south west to experience a historic sea side resort, while there are also golf courses nearby for those who want to keep their swing in touch.
One beautiful beach to see is Cirali because it is forbidden to build there due to sea turtles laying their eggs. If you want to stay somewhere very unusual and cheap try the tree houses in Olimpia.
Get superb holiday deals with car hire Antalya Airport, we can rent you low cost luggage racks so that all your family are accommodated comfortably.
Antalya is a very attractive city on the Lycian Coast of Turkey and very popular with tourists. There’s plenty to see in the city and even more within a two hour radius. Visit the old city, Kaleici, which has narrow cobbled streets and plenty of remains from Roman and Greek days including the landmark, Roman Clock Tower.
The most attractive parts of the old town are found around the Hadrianus Gate, built by the emperor Hadrian. To find out more about its history, visit the city’s archaeological museum where the displays are very informative.
