Why Should I Visit Wroclaw?
It’s been touted as the undiscovered Prague because up until recently, few tourists outside of Poland and Germany ventured there. Many of its historic buildings were destroyed at the end of the Second World War but they were subsequently lovingly reconstructed and the beautiful old city rose majestically from the dust and ashes. Top of visitor’s lists whilst in the city is almost always a moonlit walk through Ostrow Tumski, very reminiscent of Prague, with cobbled streets and timeworn sandstone buildings looming over you as you pass. The area is located on several islands in the Oder River linked to each other and the bank by many delightful bridges.

And What’s the Best way of Getting There?
For UK travellers the easiest way is to check out prices for your local airports from Ryanair and Wizzair. Both offer low cost fares directly to Copernicus Airport and the final decision is likely to be based on proximity and total cost. Copernicus Airport is a little over six miles from the city and the distance is easily covered by local bus, taxi or preferably a hire car which can be pre-booked from this page for collection when you arrive. Pre-booking gives you the convenience of having your choice of car waiting for you at Wroclaw Airport as well as giving you the lowest price for car hire at Wroclaw Airport.

What can I Expect When I Arrive at Wroclaw Airport?
The airport has recently opened a stunning new glass and steel terminal building which has gone someway to alleviate chronic overcrowding at the airport. Further expansion is expected to match predicted future growth in passenger numbers over the coming decade. The airport follows the Schengen Agreement meaning that if you are travelling within the Schengen Agreement area you will have a faster transit through it by not having to show your passport.
What are the Facilities Like for Departing Passengers?
The new terminal building was designed with the needs of passengers in mind and you’ll find a large selection of shops and restaurants both before and after security. There’s Wi-Fi available across the airport so accessing mail, social networking and the web is easy. Transfer from the terminal to the plane is by air bridge making it a comfortable and convenient way to access your plane.

Latest Update from Wroclaw Airport:

30/05/12 - With the new terminal open, attention is now focused on extending the runway to be able to take larger planes and to complete the hotel and conference centre on site.
