Rzeszow Airport Mini Guide

Why do People Fly to Rzeszow?
Rzeszow is becoming very popular with tourists because of the historical nature of the city, not least from World War Two and many people from the Jewish community visit to pay their respects to those that were murdered by the Nazis in the war or to visit the tomb of Rabbi Elimelech of Lizhensk. Others come to marvel at the old town with its beautiful market square and town hall. Rzeszow is renowned for having been a city owned by the Lubomirski family for centuries, with the population treated as tenants or vassals. It’s also famous for the interconnecting cellars that form a network of tunnels under the city. The entrance to this unusual attraction is in the Market Square.

How can I Get to Rzeszow?
Rzeszow Airport is five miles away in the town of Jasionka. UK travellers are fortunate that Ryanair decided to make it one of its destinations and so flights go there from seven UK regional airports. There’s a bus into Rzeszow from the airport, just look for the MPK bus and route L, as well as taxis and hire cars.

What is the Airport Like?
The airport is modern and expanding rapidly with a new terminal recently completed. For nearly four years, passengers had to put up with major works at the airport and routing through the airport that changed regularly but the new terminal has speeded things up dramatically making it a modern and efficiently run concern.

What Should I Expect When I Arrive in Rzeszow?
The two terminals are demarcated as terminals 1, 2 and 3 although terminal 3 is really only a small offshoot of terminal 2. Most passengers arrive at terminal 2 and on the first level where they will have disembarked via air bridges from the plane. Unusually, the car hire companies are on this floor so you’ll need to get the final paperwork completed before collecting your luggage on the floor below. There’s no information desk at the airport so you’ll need to ask a member of staff if you need help. On the ground floor you’ll find a currency exchange facility in one corner and a cash machine in the centre of the hall. For parents travelling with young children there’s a baby care room available at all times.

What are the Facilities Like for Departing Passengers?
The facilities are limited for an expanding airport but Rzeszow is trying to attract more concessions to the terminal. At the moment there is a Relay travel shop selling a variety of things you might need for your journey and a Baltona gift shop in the area after security which also includes the duty free area for international travellers. If you’re hungry whilst waiting at the airport, a single café is located on the first floor and serves a small range of hot and cold food and certainly enough to satisfy most appetites.

Latest Update from Rzeszów Airport:

29/05/12 - New Polish budget carrier OLT Express are introducing eight new routes to Rzeszow Airport from this October from across Europe and domestically from Warsaw. There are no new routes from the UK as it is felt that there is sufficient capacity on the Ryanair flights.
