Monterrey Airport has been in existence since 1936 and is located 5 kilometres from the city of Monterrey in California. The airport is owned by the airport district which covers several areas which include:
- Del Monte Forest
- Pebble Beach
- Pacific grove
- Del Rey Oaks
The airport currently has four airlines operating flights which are Allegiant Air, United Express with SkyWest Airlines, American Eagle and US Airways Express by Mesa Airlines. Monterrey Airport is currently only serving domestic flights within the USA and destinations are Phoenix, Denver, LA, San Francisco, Las Vegas
and San Diego
. The airport has two runways to cater for the commercial flights available.
The airport is 597 acres in size and for passengers arriving by car it can be accessed from both the north and south by Highway 1. Monterrey Airport has both long and short stay parking facilities available with the short term parking located on the upper lot and a premium parking area on the lower lot. The airport has some concession areas though they are limited. There is a restaurant, cafe, snack bar and gift shop for the general public as well as WiFi facility.
As part of an exhibition initiative the airport has a unique 'Art at the Airport' initiative called the Aviation Legends project. The project runs on donations and is working to bring a variety of artwork and exhibitions to be shown throughout the airport on permanent display.
