Hartford airport in Connecticut which is also known as Bradley International Airport. It got its name after an army officer - Lieutenant Bradley - who died in a training crash, as the airport supported a number of military operations. Hartford airport (airport code BDL) is located in the town of Windsor Locks and has a number of domestic and international flights with companies such as Southwest airlines, Delta airlines and US airways. They run around three hundred and fifty flight operations per day making this busiest commercial airport in Connecticut. It is also a second busiest airport in the New England region and is known as the gateway to New England.

Hartford Bradley airport

The airport is publicly owned and has been around since 1940. It was used as a landing point for aircraft during the Second World War. Some of the units which trained there were the 326th Fighter Group, the 58th Fighter Group, and the 489th Bombardment Group. But once the airport turned to commercial use it quickly became popular already dealing with more than 100,000 passengers by 1950.

In 2001 a new parking garage was built at Hartford airport (BDL) to give arriving passengers more space. After the 9/11 attacks on the parking garage suffered some problems due to safety zoning restrictions. Passengers were also catered to with the new shopping mall and food court which connected the east and west sides of the terminal.
