Swansea Mini Guide

Swansea was certainly transformed by the industrial revolution and, having been a spa town and a market town, it then became a great coal centre and a railway hub. Although a great part of Swansea’s architecture was destroyed by bombs in the Second World War, the city was rebuilt tastefully whilst a number of ravishing medieval castles still remain. Highlights of Swansea are definitely the maritime centre and the many parks which make the city feel green and pleasant. This means that there are two sides to Swansea, one urban and one rural. Therefore having a car in Swansea is a great way to get the best from both.

A view of Swansea

Your Rhino rental car will allow you to visit countryside places such as Fairwood Common, Bishopston, Upper Killay and Pwll Du Bay. Should you wish to drive to the stunning highland areas such as Mawr and Pontardulais, you may want to consider renting a four wheel drive vehicle. The main road that accesses Swansea is the M4 motorway which goes from London to west Wales.

Swansea Beach

Swansea was built on a piece of land called the Gower Peninsula which is considered to be an area of outstanding natural beauty. Many people come to Swansea every year to walk along the Peninsula’s wide sandy beaches. The city has a mild climate but, like much of the United Kingdom, it can rain at any time. Summer is of course the most agreeable time of year to visit.
