Utah Mini Guide
How do I get to Utah?
The main international airport in Utah is Salt Lake City International Airport
which has many flights from all over the US. Being closer to the Pacific than the Atlantic, more routes operate from Pacific Rim cities although there’s a daily Delta flight from Paris
. Travellers from other parts of Europe should consider taking a budget flight to Paris and connecting to Salt Lake City as trying to connect in the US is generally more expensive. Once in Salt Lake City, it’s recommended that you collect your hire car from the airport to get you to your accommodation and also allow you to drive around the state to see the amazing sights.
What are the Main Things to do in Utah?
Utah is known for its national parks and the scenery and sights in each are truly unique. In the Canyonlands National Park, water and wind have sculpted the landscape into weird and wonderful designs with ‘The Wave’ being the most photographed. Utah’s canyon rivals that of the Grand Canyon, sculpted by the same Colorado River further south. Go and see the Golden Spike which was driven into the ground at the point where the transcontinental railroad met in Utah linking the west and east coasts.
The state capital, Salt Lake City is fascinating too, heavily influenced by the Mormons who founded it. The greatest building in the city is the Mormon Temple, which although allowing few visitors, is accurately represented in the visitor centre alongside it.
