St Vincent and the Grenadines Mini Guide
What can you Tell me About St Vincent and the Grenadines?
The islands are right in line with the route that many Caribbean hurricanes take and so your trip may be interrupted by bad weather during the hurricane season. With both French and British rule over the centuries, there are strong influences from both cultures giving a unique Caribbean experience for your holiday.
The active volcano; La Soufriere, looms over the island, threatening destruction as it did in 1902 but today its lower slopes are clad in banana plantations and the population continue their daily routines blissfully unworried by the threat it poses.
Can I Hire a car at ET Joshua Airport?
St Vincent has a small airport with direct flights from Antigua
but none from further afield. ET Joshua Airport is about to be replaced with a brand new international airport but until it does, you’ll have to travel to Antigua or Barbados and transfer from there. Flights originating in the UK
travel direct to both islands making travel there time consuming but not impossible. From spring next year you should be able to fly direct from the UK.
What is There to do in St Vincent and the Grenadines?
The islands are lush and verdant and most travellers choose to drive around the island enjoying the sweeping views and rivers that plunge over magical waterfalls. The capital, Kingstown is a quaint and compact settlement with sundry shops and restaurants which serve the delicious locally caught seafood. Island hoppers take you to the Grenadines where beautiful beaches can be found in more peaceful and secluded settings.
