  • The town is twinned with Dunfermline in Fife, Scotland.

Logrono Mini Guide

Rioja wine is one of the main exports of Logrono, a city in the north of Spain. The city is known as an industrial centre which produces things like wood and textiles. The city of Logrono was built along the banks of the Ebro River and was originally an old Roman settlement. The Way of St James, a pilgrimage to the cathedral of Santiago de Compostela, passes through Logrono and the bones of the apostle are supposedly buried there. During the 15th century Logrono had an ominous reputation as the seat of the Spanish Inquisition and this is where the brutal and bloody Basque witch trials took place.

Logrono City

Most people who visit Logrono do so to enjoy a great shopping experience or for business reasons as it is a retail and financial centre. Not many tourists end up going to Logrono although there are some attractive churches to see and the city has an interesting history. Visitors can also get a feel for the city by relaxing in one of the many well laid out plazas and parks in the centre. They include the Plaza del Mercado and the recently built Parque de la Ribera. The Parque de Ebro is the most well known park and is a very pretty place to take a stroll at night.

Getting to Logrono was made easier since they created a new airport called Logrono Agoncillo. Logrono Agoncillo has the airport code RJL and currently only has one flight to the Spanish capital Madrid which is operated by Iberia and Denim Air.
