Agadir Airport Mini Guide

Al Massira Airport
Al Massira Airport is situated about 15 miles from Agadir proper. With millions of passengers passing through each year, as well as a number of commercial flights, it is a busy airport despite offering flights to a limited number of destinations. Flights reaching it from other places such as the US and Canada will be routed through Casablanca, and passengers passing through Al Massira on their way through Casablanca can pass through passport control there, avoiding longer queues at Casablanca.

Agadir Airport

Reaching the Airport
Around 25 airlines service Al Massira Airport, including cut-rate airlines such as Ryanair. That said, the number of cities from and to which you can fly is limited. To reach the airport from the Agadir area, taxis are the only truly viable option unless you have rented a car, which is easily done from the facilities located outside the terminal.

Inside the Airport
Inside Al Massira Airport you can find a wide range of facilities. The terminal itself is split into two compartments, one for national and one for international passengers. Both of these parts benefit from a set of shops including duty-free. You can also slake any thirst and sate any hunger with a selection of restaurants, bars and fast food establishments. Al Massira even contains some shops allowing you to buy souvenirs from Moroccan artisans.

Limited Mobility
For passengers with limited mobility, Al Massira Airport offers help such as clearly signposted disabled toilets in each part of the terminal. Specially lowered telephones are available and access ramps can be found in all the relevant locations. You can count on priority treatment when checking in and when passing through customs and immigration. First aid can be given and limited medical facilities are available to help passengers in need.

Agadir Airport Runway

Private Time
A non-denominational prayer room is open to passengers of any faith, allowing you to practice your religious beliefs and take a moment out of your journey for spirituality.

Most holidaymakers travel to Agadir for the hot sun, reasonable beaches and developing nightlife but there is an Agadir beyond the beachfront. We’d recommend hiring a car and driving up into the Atlas Mountains. In winter it’s possible to ski there in basic ski resorts which have ski lifts and some après ski.

In the summer, the higher peaks are still green, watered by the melted snow and the air is cooler and clearer. There too, you’ll find the true Morocco in the lives of the Berber tribesmen still living their lives as they have for centuries.
