What’s the History of Bozeman, Montana?
The history of the city goes back to the time when Americans were being encouraged to ‘Go west!’ Initially it was bypassed by the early explorers and was only ‘discovered’ when John Bozeman, the city’s founder, took a branch off the Oregon Trail and headed north to find a new route to the mining area of Virginia City. The lush and fertile land soon attracted settlers and the city has never looked back. Today it is one of the fastest growing cities in the US with a thriving university and attracts many tourists for its natural beauty.

Bozeman is a small city found in the picturesque Gallatin Valley. There’s a range of unusual things to do there both in the city and in the surrounding countryside. If you’ve hired a car, begin by taking a drive down to one of the many rafting centres on the Gallatin River.

Depending on the part of the river, you can have a gentle drift or a white knuckle ride. In the city, visit the Museum of the Rockies which details the changes in the panorama and the uses of the mountains over time. It’s a fascinating insight into the mountains.
