Maybe it is best to stay in Puerto de la Cruz in the north of Tenerife. It is an old harbour town that has kept its heritage and very different to the resorts in the south. If you like to scuba dive, it is well worth diving around the harbour walls in Puerto de la Cruz or feed the sting rays at Las Galletas. If you visit the city of Santa Cruz, there are museums and art galleries to keep you busy and a large market on a Sunday if you get the urge to shop.

I Heard Tenerife has Lots of Natural Beauty
You should start out at Mount Teide National Park and take a cable car up the volcano - from the top you will see amazing views across the whole island.  If you are feeling energetic take a hiking route through the Parque Rural de Anaga. For something less taxing, take a sea cruise and watch out for the dolphins and whales. If you have a hire car in Tenerife, take a drive to the pretty Masca, locally known as the forgotten village due to only recently having an accessible road.

What is the Food Like?
Mostly the food is typically Spanish, try the paella and tortilla. Tacos filled with pork are a popular snack or street food, if you are on the go. The fish is good there but find a nice restaurant in one of the harbour towns for the freshest catch. Visit one of the traditional bars and try tapas, sample a little taste of everything.

The Carnival of Santa Cruz de Tenerife is the second largest in the world after Rio Carnival. It lasts between 7 and 10 days with parades, music and lots and lots of parties!
