How do I Get to Lusaka?
Getting into Lusaka from Europe or the UK is very easy. There are direct flights weekly from London Heathrow with BA and also from Amsterdam with KLM. The airport is several miles outside the city and unless you have arranged to collect a hire car there you’ll be at the mercy of possibly unregulated taxi drivers who are fond of telling people they can’t get a bus and then charge them three times the regular taxi rate. The airport is actually quite well equipped as you’d expect from the country’s main airport of entry. You’ll find banks, a post office, restaurants, shops and more in a clean but basic airport. You’ll be shocked to hear that there’s even a better appointed VIP lounge and a business centre.

What Should I Do in Lusaka?
Proud Zambians will always direct you to their National Museum where the story of the transition from colonial Northern Rhodesia to independent Zambia is recorded. The story there is somewhat biased towards the brave and honourable Zambians but you’ll get an idea of the truth from your visit. For less dry entertainment head to the Munda Wanga Environmental Park, a glorified zoo but one which has many cute animals rescued from the wild. For the ultimate in relaxation, spend an afternoon at Lilayi Lodge, a game lodge surrounded by prime safari territory which also has a superb restaurant and a great pool to cool off before your meal.
