Finally, of the big names in Terminal 3, Virgin Atlantic cover most of these destinations again with the addition of dazzling Shanghai, China’s key port city and Johannesburg in South Africa, gateway to Africa’s safari region whilst oil execs and others can use Virgin’s service to Lagos in Nigeria. If the jewels of India appeal to you, get your journey off to a great start with the daily flight to Delhi.
Terminal 3 is built over two levels The ground floor is shared between check in and arrivals whilst, post check in, you’ll go up a level to the departure area, departure lounge and the shopping area as well as the lounges for Virgin Atlantic and American Airlines.
Arriving passengers will deplane via the gates in to the passport control area and travel onwards to the baggage reclaim areas. Eleven state of the art baggage reclaim belts await you. Once you’ve got your baggage, the need for cash can be satisfied at the Travelex and Moneycorp branches immediately opposite. Keen to take money from you are the temptations of your last chance at duty free goods at the World Duty Free store that straddles the exit into the public area of the arrivals hall.
The arrivals hall is expansive and lines by many of the facilities arriving passengers would need. You’ll find news, books and snacks at WH Smith, toiletry items and a pharmacy at Boots and more substantial food plus wine, flowers and other gifts at M&S Food. If you’re after quick refreshment, Caffe Nero can offer you a caffeine boost whilst for a meal before your onward journey, try the Bite and Globe Restaurant or the Globe Freehouse. If you’re a traveller with Emirates, the arrivals hall has their Chauffeur Drive lounge and Delta’s lounge while a short escalator or lift ride up a level takes you to the American Airlines lounge and the Virgin Atlantic Revivals lounge. On this level you’ll also find the multi-faith prayer room.
If you’ve not yet booked your accommodation or want information on your onward journey, there’s a tourist information point in the centre of the hall.
Car rental customers can complete the final paperwork and arrange collection of their vehicle at the agents’ desks to the left of the exit. Avis, Budget, Europcar, National, Alamo, Enterprise and Hertz customers will drive away from the terminal whilst Dollar, Thrifty and Sixt customers will need to use the shuttle service to the depot to collect their car.
