Customer questions about Heathrow Terminal 1 car hire
I am interested in hiring the land rover freelander from you at Heathrow Terminal 1, is this car 4 wheel drive?
Hi, unless it is specifically stated as 4WD, then we cannot guarantee this. The make / model shown is the most popular in this class and a Freelander is 4WD, however unless the quote specifically states that the vehicle is 4WD, you many be offered an alternative SUV that is not 4WD. Do you need 4WD?

Heathrow Airport Terminal 1 Mini Guide
Heathrow Terminal 1 is currently the home of BA, or British Airways, at Britain’s biggest and busiest airport. It also accepts the flight from Sao Paulo
with TAM and El Al’s Tel Aviv
Terminal 1 is due to close this October to allow for the expansion of Terminal 2 and between now and then, the 21 daily flights using the terminal will gradually move to other terminals in readiness for the demolition of the majority of the terminal which first entered service over 45 years ago.
On June 30, BA’s flights to Bilbao
, Sao Paulo and Marseille
will move to Terminal 3 whilst flights to Amman, Baku, Beirut
will move to Terminal 5. El Al’s flight to Tel Aviv transferred to Terminal 4 on April 25.
If you’re arriving at Terminal 1, car hire is still available until all the flights have been transferred. The car hire agents are easily located on the left hand side, halfway down the arrivals hall, just beyond the escalator to the underground and departing the airport after collecting your car is simply via the tunnel under the North Runway, using the M4 spur to join the M4 into London
or the west.
Shopping is now dramatically limited in the terminal as the main retailers move their locations to busier terminals and only six shops remain for passenger use. Toiletries and travel goods are available at Boots, electrical items and laptops can be purchased at Dixons Travel whilst gifts can be bought at Glorious Britain. Duty free goods are available at World Duty Free and reading material for your journey is in plentiful supply at WH Smith with stylish clothing available at Cocoon.
The only lounges remaining open at the airport are the British Airways International Lounge and the El Al King David Lounge. Free Wi-Fi is available across the terminal, just use the network name _Heathrow WiFi
