St Louis Mini Guide

Tell me More About St Louis
The city has undergone many transformations in its time from French to Spanish to American ownership and from being a major port on the Mississippi from its position where the Mississippi joins the Missouri River. It was once the centre of the river steamboat industry and before the rise of Detroit, was the automotive capital of America. As that industry waned, it became a fashion centre before that too disappeared. Today it thrives again on hi-tech industry and with a people who are friendly, welcoming and very proud of their neighbourhoods and city.

How do I get to St Louis?
The best way to access the city is by flying into Lambert St Louis International Airport. The only international passenger flights that land there come from Toronto so travellers from Europe and other continents would have to consider flying into one of the major east coast airports and connecting to Lambert St Louis. The airport is ten miles from the city but has a metro link connection taking passengers quickly into the St Louis.
What is There to See and Do in St Louis?
The best sight and iconic of the city is the Gateway Arch that marks the journeys made by those early pioneers leaving the city on their way west. St Louis’ City Museum is a bit of an eye-opener too. Like no other museum, it’s more like a theme park of history and kids will love it as well as grown-ups. Take a look at Eads Bridge which was the first to cross the Mississippi. At the time of construction it was the longest in the world and is the oldest all steel bridge in the world. If you’re in the city on the fourth of July, you’ll be treated to one of the best parades and celebrations in the States.
