Atlanta Airport Mini Guide
Why Should I Choose Atlanta?
There are two reasons travellers choose Atlanta, one being that it is the main access point to North and parts of South America. Landing at Atlanta you’ll be able to access domestic flights to all the major and many minor airports across the United States.
You’ll also be very close to the ‘capital’ of the Deep South, home of the confederates in the American Civil War and in later years the birthplace of Martin Luther King and the American Civil Rights Movement. You may be going there on business for Atlanta is home to many of the world’s biggest companies including Coca Cola and UPS or you may simply want to enjoy the great food, southern hospitality and the delicious fresh peaches for which the state of
Georgia is renowned.
How Easy is it to get to Atlanta Airport?
All of Europe’s main airports fly to Atlanta including Paris Charles de Gaulle, Frankfurt, Amsterdam and Madrid. There are three routes from the UK, BA fly from Heathrow, as does Delta, whilst Delta also operate a route from Manchester, so getting there is very simple.
What’s the Airport Like?
The airport has two terminals, one for domestic flights and one for international ones. Both are connected by a concourse. The international terminal has six further parallel concourses and in total the terminal has nearly 200 boarding gates. The ‘Plane Train’ moves nearly all passengers around the huge terminal to save time and congestion.
What are the Facilities Like at Atlanta Airport?
As you’d expect from the world’s largest airport, they are very extensive. Almost everything you think you could need can be found there; a huge shopping mall with US and international high street names, over sixty places to eat ranging from McDonalds to gourmet dining, sandwich outlets to steak houses. There’s a prayer room for those that need it, Wi-Fi, computer kiosks, massage, hairdressers, medical facilities and more, the list just goes on and on. The bottom line is that you certainly won’t be bored before you board!
