Biel Mini Guide
Biel or Bienne is a town in the canton of
Bern in Switzerland. It is the home of Swiss watchmaking and there is a watchmaking museum where you can trace the development of the craft. Biel is also the start of a cruise known as the ‘Three Lakes Cruise’ starting from Lake Biel and heading into Lakes Neuchâtel and Murten. You could take your hire car from Biel to try something unusual – quality Swiss wine from the vineyards nearby. Biel is also at the foot of the Jura and a funicular railway takes you up to the top of Magglingen.
The closest airport to Biel is Bern Airport which is approximately 30 minutes away by car. A hire car can be collected directly from Bern Airport and pre-booked online to receive the best possible price.
