Tell me About Stockholm-Arlanda Airport
Stockholm-Arlanda Airport is situated near the town of Marsta and is 37 km from Stockholm city centre. It is the largest airport in Sweden.
How Would I get There?
Flights arrive there everyday from destinations worldwide connecting Sweden with every continent and a total of 67 airlines fly into Stockholm-Arlanda Airport.
Can I get to Stockholm City Centre Easily?
If you don’t want to drive, take the Arlanda Express rail service to Stockholm Central Station or you can take a taxi or the Flygbussarna coach. The car rental offices are next to the long term parking area, if you have hired a car and want to drive to Stockholm you just take the E4 highway.
What’s at the Airport for me?
A good place to start is the Arlanda Visitor Centre in Terminal 5, where you can find out about the local area. They also have information desks in Terminal 2 and 4. There are internet stations and Wi-Fi in the airport as well as an Office Room, if you need to work somewhere quiet. If you need to get some Euros, you can use the ATMs located around the terminal building or use the SEB Exchange Forex for currency exchange. For business class passengers, there are 3 lounges you can use. There you can relax and have a light meal or catch up on some work at the work stations. The airport has many helpful facilities, you can get your hair cut and have a manicure or get your dry cleaning done. There is also a pharmacy and a fitness centre.
Can I eat There?
Of course, there are a lot of outlets to choose from. If you want tastes from around the world go to Streetfood or for something ‘snacky’, try Taste where you can have tapas. Eat Scandinavian style at Andersson Food and Akavit or if you just want a freshly made baguette head to Upper Crust. Starbucks Coffee overlooks the runway and is the first branch in Sweden.
I Forgot to buy Some Gifts…
There are many shops at Stockholm-Arlanda Airport offering a wide range of items from fine food and fashion to gifts and toys. Browse for bargains at Tax Free store or get a souvenir of Stockholm from Motiv. For a foodie friend, buy some cloudberry jam from the Deli or for the fashionista buy a designer name bag or watch from Accessories. While you are there, check out the rails at Fashion Shop, they have luxury brand clothing for men and women. For anything else you forgot, you will probably find it at 7-Eleven convenience store and why not buy a book for your journey from Pocket Shop or WHSmith.
Is There a Hotel at the Airport?
Yes, take your pick of four! Radisson Blu Sky City Hotel is convenient as it is between terminals 4 and 5 and you can use the airport fitness centre. For a more relaxed stay go to Radisson Blu Arlandia Hotel, who have a pool and sauna as well as a gym. If you are looking for a room for just a few hours or ‘no frills’ head for Rest and Fly in Terminal 4. For something completely different, stay at the Jumbohostel747 – it is a decommissioned 747 aircraft that has been made into a hotel and café as well as being a bit of a tourist attraction.
Anything Else you can Tell me?
You can take a guided tour of the airport or even get married there! The airport offers many VIP services for a charge and helicopter charters can be arranged.
