What Is There To Do?
Much like many of the smaller resorts along the southern coast of the Algarve, leisure activities at plentiful in Altura. A staple diet for many visitors to the Algarve, golfers are well catered for here with many reputable clubs within a short drive from Altura. Well connected to the highway system that runs the length of the coast, Altura is a great base if planning day trips. With Spain less than 10 minutes by road, Huelva is a popular city to visit when staying in Altura. How To Get There?
The nearest major airport is Faro International which is approximately 20 miles south east of Altura. Private transfers, taxi or bus services run to Altura, however the most convenient way to get there is by pre-booking car hire at Faro Airport
. The E1 highway is clearly marked from Faro Airport and the journey is straight forward. If you are visiting Altura from Spain

15/02/13 - Altura's main geographical attraction away from the beach are the hills behind it called the Schist. On the 12th October this year the Sky Road race will take place - a gruelling 150km cycle ride up and around the hills, if you're fit enough for the challenge, it's open to all.
