Car Hire Cusco Chinchero Airport

Serving the south of Peru, Cusco’s current airport (Alejandro Velasco Astete International Airport) is due to be replaced by the new facility under construction, Chinchero Airport, which is scheduled to open in 2025. Until the switch occurs, you can still rent cars in Cusco, either from the airport (CUZ), Lima Airport or any of our downtown locations.

As soon as the new airport facility is online and receiving flights, routes and airlines will divert services to Chinchero Airport where car rental facilities will be immediately available.

Recommendations:

1. Driving Conditions: While main roads are generally in good condition, some sections might be narrow and winding, especially those that traverse the mountainous terrain of the region.

2. Altitude: The entire Cusco region is at a high altitude, so it's essential to give yourself time to acclimatize before undertaking any strenuous activities, including long drives.

3. Navigation: Ensure you have a reliable GPS or navigation app, as some remote areas might not have clear signage.

4. Local Knowledge: Consult at the car rental agency  desk about the current road conditions, especially if you're venturing off the main routes.

5. Insurance: Ensure your rental vehicle has comprehensive insurance coverage due to potential road hazards and conditions.
