What Kind of People Travel to Den Haag?
On any flight to Den Haag there are likely to be many lawyers and solicitors for most of Europe’s major judicial decisions and those of many other parts of the world are made there. You’ll also find many tourists as Den Haag is a pretty and much underrated city, not usually on the tourist map. Whilst many head to Amsterdam, more and more are becoming aware of the delights of South Holland’s capital.

How do I get to Den Haag?
The closest airport to Den Haag is Rotterdam The Hague Airport which is about four miles from Rotterdam and sixteen from Den Haag. Over a million people use the airport each year which has direct flights from London City Airport with Air France and from Heathrow with BA. Transavia are the main operators at the airport with flights from all over Europe.

What is There to do in Den Haag?
The old town around the area known as Plein is very beautiful with a mix of old architecture from Baroque to Renaissance to Medieval. The word plein means square and many of the buildings are built around the main square in this quarter of Den Haag. Elsewhere there are several other neighbourhoods with equally pleasing architecture including the Binnenhof, or castle surrounded by filled in moats. The inner court has held the seat of the Dutch government for eight centuries. If it appeals, you can actually attend sessions of parliament by sitting in the public gallery.

To see some of the country’s most fabulous artworks, try the Mauritshuis where many old masters’ paintings are displayed including Rembrandts and Vermeers.
