If you are planning a tour of the Highlands, you won't go far wrong by following the North Coast 500 route. Often referred to as the Route 66 of Scotland, the NC500 takes in, as the name suggests 500 miles of Scotlands finest roads, navigating the highlands through sleepy villages and towns alike. Take in the spectacular views a week, or for the more adventurous, it can be done over a weekend. But don't let the 'just' 500 mile journey fool you into thinking it'll be a breeze, some of the road are very challenging and demanding single lane so progress is rarely brisk. We recommend you plan a minimum of 5 days, if not a week to take in all the sights that this stunning road trip has lying in wait.
Take a look at the route via their website, plan your itinerary and book your accommodation from their extensive list of recommended hotels, B&B's and campsites. Enjoy discounted car hire in Scotland
