Guernsey Airport Mini Guide
Guernsey Airport is only 4.6 km south west of the island’s capital, St Peter Port. In 2004, the new terminal opened and it has won awards for its unique architecture.
How can I fly there?
Just 6 airlines service Guernsey Airport, mostly providing flights to the UK, but also to
Switzerland. Other flights are seasonal and then it is possible to travel from
France,
Germany,
Holland and Spain.
How do I get to the City?
A regular bus service operated by Island Coachways, connects the airport with St Peter Port and other resorts. Many of the hotels have their own shuttle bus service, so it is always worth asking. Hiring a car is an ideal option to explore the island, but be aware the speed limit is 35mph!
What can I see nearby?
St Peter Port is a busy harbour town where bistros and boutiques sit side by side. Its restaurants are famous for their fresh produce from the local land and sea. If you would like to discover the islands rich history, you can visit Castle Cornet, Guernsey Museum and Art Gallery and the La Vallette Underground Military Museum. You can also take a ferry to neighbouring islands.

At check-in, there are also self service kiosks, if you want to beat the queues. In the main concourse there is an ATM and if you have enquiries about the airport or the locality, you can visit the airport information desk. There, you can also use the sterling/euro currency exchange service offered by Batif. Departures has a spacious seating area, with panoramic views over the Channel Islands, so you can enjoy the view whilst your wait for your flight. If you have hired a car, the car rental desks are located in the airport concourse.
What is there in the way of refreshments?
Ritazza café/bar is on the upper floor, where you can choose to have a panini or cake with your coffee. On the ground floor, you will find Le Gouffre Food Village which has a wide range of dishes for everyone. You can have a freshly made baguette or salad or indulge in a pasta dish.
What is the airport shopping like?
There is an Airport Travellers Shop for all those last minute essentials. There you can buy newspapers and a book or some sweets for your journey. Guernsey Airport was one of the first airports in the world to have its own Fair-trade shop. In departures you will also find Guernsey Duty Free, which has a large selection of items at tax free prices. Treat yourself to some new sunglasses or a new watch there!
Are there hotels at the airport?
One of the closest hotels to the airport is the 2 star Le Chene Hotel, just a minutes drive away. Its 24 rooms are of traditional style and light and airy. Guernsey Airport offers special assistance through the airport for passengers with reduced mobility and wheelchairs are available. There is an induction loop system, for passengers with impaired hearing.
