Can I get to the City Easily?
There is no public transportation available between the airport and the city so car hire is advisable, it is just a five minute drive using the N7 highway. Taxis are available and it would cost between 15 and 20 Euros to get to the city, nearly two days car hire each direction making car hire at Avignon Airport an excellent value means of transport whilst staying in the area.
What Facilities Does the Airport Have?
It is a small airport but has the basics you would need. There is an information desk for any enquiries you may have at the airport and to discover more about the area you can visit the tourist information desk. You can shop at Achat-Avignon for souvenirs and locally made items. If you are hungry, head for La Courte Paille Restaurant or visit Mama Mia’s at the flying club at the airport. Vending machines are also available for quick snacks on the go.
Does the Airport Have a Hotel?
The Hotel Best Western Le Paradou is located next to the airport. It has a swimming pool and is set in lush gardens. The hotel restaurant is well known for its Provencal dishes.
I am There for a few Days…
You can visit the historic centre of Avignon and see the Rocher des Domes and the Palais des Papes. The famous bridge of Avalon has only 4 arches left, but is still worth the visit. Once you have seen everything the city has to offer, you can drive out to towns like Orange
, as Avignon is seen as the gateway to Provence.
- Three of the routes in and out of Avignon are seasonal with only Leeds Bradford and Southampton routes operating all year round. This may have a bearing on when you decide to travel as many of the flights don't commence until after the Easter break and finish before the end of the October half term holidays.
