Isn’t it Dangerous to Travel to Medellin?
Not that long ago you’d be thought of as mad for even considering a journey there but the determination of its people to clean up the city has paid off with it now being no more dangerous than many of the world’s more popular cities. There’s plenty to see and do there whether you’re in the city on business or for pleasure and the advice these days is simply to use common sense when you’re out and about.

How do I get to Medellin?
The city is easily accessed from its own airport; Jose Maria Cordova International, which you can fly to from Madrid or alternatively, you can fly to Miami, JFK or Fort Lauderdale Airports in the US and make a connection there. It’s only thirty minutes into town from the airport and you can collect a hire car there if you don’t want to wait until you get into the city.

What is There to See and Do in Medellin?
The city was founded in the early 17th century and has many historic buildings, most of those still standing being ecclesiastic in origin. The city’s cathedral is very impressive, reputedly using a world record 1.1 million bricks in its construction. Pueblita Paisa is also worth a visit. It’s a reconstruction of a traditional Antioquia village on top of Cerro Nutibara and a great way to understand how the people lived before the arrival of the Spanish. The city’s Christmas lights are meant to be the finest in South America so time your trip carefully and be dazzled. Finally, outside the city are the mountains of the Andes, great for exploration!
