Festivals and Celebrations
In 2010, Rotterdam was ranked the Best Festival City of the World drawing attention from the thousands of residents and tourists every year, attracting people with their cultural and exciting city and events. The International Film Festival is the most popular festival which takes place annually in January, where people can discover great new films. The festival lasts 12 days, during which many film makers around the globe present their work.
– This month sees the beginning of Rotterdam’s music festival scene. Visit Rotterdam in May for an eclectic mix of music festivals ranging from Opera to musical theatre to dance.
- Until June this year the Kunsthal has an exhibition of art and other visual media called 'Sweet and Salt' documenting the importance of water to the Netherlands over the last two centuries. Works by the Old Masters will be on display as well as photography from recent times.
