Mazatlan Mini Guide
Who Travels to Mazatlan?
These days it’s mainly North American holiday makers who come for the blissful white sandy beaches, the pampering of the all-inclusive five star resorts and the beautiful tropical weather where they can avoid the threat of hurricanes faced on Mexico’s Caribbean coast.
How Easy is it to get to Mazatlan Airport?
If you’re travelling from the US or Canada, you’ll have a wide selection of airports to fly direct from. Whilst there are no flights from outside North America, these airports help travellers from Europe and the UK as many of them are international hubs. Try Toronto, Dallas, LA, Washington or Chicago, depending on schedule and price and getting to Mazatlan is easy. Once you’re there, many use the resort transfer buses but, if you are intending to explore a little, then collecting a hire car from the airport when you arrive is a good idea.
What is the Airport Like?
It’s a good size airport with some jet ways for disembarking at the single terminal building. Some smaller flights have to disembark on the apron and walk but they’re mainly domestic flights. The terminal has two levels, one for arrivals and one for departures. Each has a food court with an adequate range of eateries including sit down a la carte dining and take away. There are also snack bar cafes for those that just want something light. Shopping is confined to a comprehensive duty free outlet that, apart from the alcohol and tobacco products, also has gifts, electricals and confectionery.
