Bariloche Airport is a favourite for those visiting the area to ski. A hire car will get you to Cerro Catedral, acknowledged as one of the finest ski resorts in the southern hemisphere with a variety of runs to suit all levels and a great après ski scene with the slopes close.

Skiers come from all over the world to ski there with large numbers from North America and Japan. In summer when all but the highest pistes close, tourists are attracted by the rugged scenery, reminiscent of the Alps in Switzerland  which makes for fine walking country.
