Exeter has an international airport which offers an array of interesting flights even including a transatlantic service to Barbados. While this is a charter service, there are also a number of scheduled flights to domestic and European destinations.

What to Expect at Exeter Airport
Exeter Airport located in the south west of England is a lively, modern regional airport opened in 1937 and though while not large it has all the facilities you may expect at a modern airport. It can also boast of its accommodating 300,000 passengers per year which is no mean feat for a petite regional Airport. It cooperates with most of the main carriers in addition to facilitating charter flights to destinations such as the eastern Mediterranean Island of Cyprus, and the eternal party rock of Ibiza.
Is it Easy to Find?
Located approximately 7 kilometres outside the centre of Exeter city and only 5 minutes off the M5 Motorway, Exeter Airport is very well sign posted and easy to find. If you don’t drive, you can reach the airport by hopping on the number 56, 56A or 56B out of Exeter’s St. David’s station or by just grabbing a cab. Authorised airport taxis are in operation from the arrivals building and can be easily booked in advance with a requested pick up time. Train enthusiasts however may be disappointed as there is no train connection to the terminal.
Is There Anything to do There?
OK. So there is only one terminal, 10 check in desks, 3 eateries, 2 baggage belts, 2 shops and a partridge in a pear tree, (sorry for that last bit) but all your basic needs will be met. The Alpha Airport shop offers good savings on the usual brands of perfume, alcohol and cigarettes, while the World News newsagents can cover your reading and confectionary requirements.
What About Food?
While there is not a large selection of hip and cutting edge venues to choose from you will not go hungry at Exeter Airport. Sample a freshly prepared sandwich or baguette and pretend you’re already in France at the Food Village & Grill. Sip an espresso or something stronger at the Café Select or down a few beers at the Bar Des Voyages in the departure lounge. A caution for non smokers however is that the bar houses a designated smoking area and in an airport particularly, this can be quite busy.
