Sharjah International airport is a main commercial hub in the United Arab Emirates where passenger numbers have increased dramatically over the last ten years.
There are now more than four million passengers who use Sharjah airport on many different airlines including Air India. Click Airways, Egypt Air and Transaero. It is also the base for Air Arabia. Although there is only one runway and one passenger terminal, Sharjah aiport is much used by aircraft which are carrying cargo.
Sharjah airport is currently celebrating its 75th birthday and has just launched a new logo in an effort to keep pace with the fast moving pace of the aviation business.
The airport is well connected to many major international destinations as well as the other Emirates, being only a few kilometres away from Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras- Al-Khaimah and Fujairah.
The airport provides access to the main ports of the Arabian Gulf, with direct road links to both of Sharjah’s ports.
Getting to Sharjah is around10 kilometres drive from Sharjah city centre, and it is opposite the University of Sharjah. To get there from the city centre, head to the Quran round-about and then take the Fine Fair exit. Head straight along the Dhaid Road until you reach interchange number four.
