Las Vegas is the largest city in Nevada, founded in 1905 and situated in the Nevada Desert. This city is like no other city in the world and claims to be the “Entertainment capital of the World”. Known by some as Sin City and home to some of the biggest casinos in the world.
After legalizing gambling in 1931, Las Vegas became an entertainment centre for the builders that came to help with the construction of the Hoover dam. In 1941 with the grand opening of El Rancho Vegas resort, which started the Vegas Strip as we know it today. Whether you stay at the magnificent Bellagio, or one of the many motels, your stay in Vegas will be a memorable one.
Las Vegas never closes, so if gambling is for you, then you can play blackjack, roulette or even the slots well into the early hours. If not, then you can take in a show, with many famous names still playing the Vegas circuit you will be spoilt for choice. Vegas plays host to various tribute bands and artists, which can make for a fantastic evening. Then finish the night with some fine food from all over the world. If the city itself gets a little too hectic and you want to slow the pace, there is plenty to see and do.
A visit to Red Rock Canyon is a must, where you will see some stunning scenery. If you are thinking about venturing off the Strip, a rental car is ideal and lets you see things at your pace, so you are not tied to public transport timetables.
