Thought of as one of the best value hotels in Las Vegas, Bally’s Hotel was formerly the MGM Grand. The hotel has now been refurbished in what is described as ‘cosmopolitan Las Vegas’ and features a moving walkway that takes you into the hotel surrounded by myriad neon lights accompanied by the sound of Rat Pack classics invoking the spirit and history of the city.
Inside there’s a huge casino and under it a large shopping complex reachable by a stop on the Las Vegas Monorail system but it also has plenty of parking for your hire car.

Who Stays at Bally’s?
There are many stunning hotels in Las Vegas but most of them come at a stunningly high price. Bally’s is different; it offers great deals on stays there and whilst not having masses of high end entertainment like the others you are right in the middle of ‘the strip’ so you can use the entertainment facilities of the more expensive hotels nearby.
What’s the Hotel Like?
It’s very big with over 2,800 rooms. The lobby is magnificent and tastefully decorated with attentive and friendly staff ready to help. Entry to the hotel is by a moving walkway that is nothing short of spectacular with amazing lighting accompanied by typically Vegas style music. The hotel is currently undertaking refurbishment of its very large rooms and the North Tower project is complete. It has a huge pool with private huts called cabanas for those that want to be able to swim yet relax in peaceful surroundings.
Could I Stay a Week Without Leaving the Hotel?
It’s quite possible as there’s nearly everything here you could need. A shopping centre under the casino has great boutiques selling exclusive designer clothing and jewellery plus gifts. The casino is large but not overawing. Many of the guests spend just an hour or so here each night with a set limit enjoying the excitement of potentially huge wins. The hotel’s pool is massive and rarely crowded. It’s set in lush gardens with palm trees and other exotica.
The city’s largest tennis academy is also located here for the energetic that don’t mind the heat! In the evenings there is a range of restaurants to choose from with a variety of menus to suit different tastes and budgets. After dinner you can sit in the auditorium and watch what is billed as Las Vegas’ only surviving revue show, Jubilee.
