Honolulu is the largest city in the State of Hawaii and is situated on the island of Oahu. Honolulu is the home to one of the best known beaches around the world; Waikiki Beach literally draws in thousands of visitors each month. A thriving city, with plenty to offer everyone.
The name Honolulu means “Sheltered bay” in Hawaiian and is a very popular vacation destination. Apart from soaking up the sun on one of its stunning beaches, there is plenty to do and see around the city. For history and culture lovers, the Battleship Missouri Memorial holds some interesting facts around the famous battleship, located on Ford Island and the infamous Pearl Harbour, which should be seen by all. The Bishop Museum is a must see, to gain a better understanding of the city’s heritage, they also have an excellent array of Hawaiian artefacts and exhibits.
A visit to the International Market Place should be on your itinerary also, where you can shop for a souvenir to remind you of your stay. The Aloha Stadium Swap Meet, which is Hawaii’s largest and will fill your day with the taste and sounds of Honolulu. Shopping at the Ala Moana Centre is a good day out, where you can shop till you drop and then, to a restaurant for some local cuisine.
There is so much to fill each day, the best way to get the most of your visit. Is to arrange a rental car, by doing so you are free to explore this great city and its surroundings at your own pace and not worry about public transport timetables.
