The small state of Connecticut is home one of America’s top universities – Yale.
Yale is among the eight Ivy League Universities in America and the third oldest university within the United States. It is located in New Haven.
Connecticut also has some wonderful beaches, boardwalks and lighthouses on the coast with the Atlantic Ocean at New Haven. Lighthouses worth seeing include the Five Mile Point light and the Southwest Ledge Light.
The Fairfield County part of Connecticut actually borders the state of Rhode Island and New York City. Fairfield County is where some of Connecticut’s biggest cities are located such as Stamford, Bridgeport and Norwalk. From the pretty town of Greenwich in Fairfield County it is possible to get great views over to Long Island.
Bu the capital of Connecticut is actually Hartford which is situated in the Connecticut River Valley region. Car rental Hartford is a good way to get to other areas of Connecticut such as Mystic Eastern and cities like New London. Hartford is also close to the main airport in Connecticut, the Bradley international airport which has cheap flights with Southwest Air among others. You may also wish to drive to New York’s nearby JFK airport though as it is one of the world’s biggest transport hubs and has a massive range of flights.
Connecticut is a great place to visit in the autumn when the leaves are changing and the countryside is awash in colour. The Litchfield Hills region is the best part of Connecticut in which to witness this marvel of nature.
Gamblers will be pleased to know that Connecticut is home to two of the world’s biggest casinos, Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun. The former casino is owned by the Mashantucket Pequot North American Indian tribe and the latter is owned by the Mohegan tribe. Mohegan Sun is America’s largest casino.
