Bozeman Airport serves many travel needs. The major cities of Belgrade and Bozeman are within minutes of the airport and many of the students of the University of Montana arrive at the campus via Gallatin Field.
Its main source of traffic though is for visitors to the world’s oldest and most famous national park, the Yellowstone. Covering an area of over three and a half thousand square miles it is home to the continent’s only supervolcano, thankfully dormant, and the Old Faithful geyser, the top attraction on most people’s list of must-sees.
Bozeman Airport Mini Guide
Why am I going to Bozeman, Montana?
There are lots of reasons. The city is home to a campus of Montana University and is one of the gateway cities to the Yellowstone National Park. If you like winter sports, Bozeman is reputedly one of Montana’s best ski destinations. Or you could just be attracted, as many of the new locals are, by the fresh air, high quality of life and beautiful scenery of the Gallatin Valley.
How do I get to Bozeman?
The city has its own domestic airport that takes connecting flights from major USA cities. From the airport it’s only a short drive to the city centre.
What’s the Airport Like?
As you’d expect from a small regional airport, it’s quite basic, especially when you get inside. It is in a beautiful setting with mountains to either side forming a spectacular backdrop as you arrive.
What can I Expect When I Arrive?
As it only operates domestic flights, there is no need for passport control and whilst security is in evidence, it is more cursory here. There are not a great many ways you can get disorientated in the airport or fail to find what you need as the arrivals hall is large and uncluttered, in fact it almost looks abandoned. However, should you need it, there is an information desk which also acts as a tourist information post. The car hire desks are also easy to find with your rental car parked outside nearby. The bus stop is immediately outside the terminal building together with a taxi rank.
And When I Return Home?
You shouldn’t experience any delays from Gallatin Field on your return journey so you are unlikely to be in the airport long. Whilst waiting, the Copper Horse restaurant serves excellent and hearty meals in a degree of comfort. After your meal you can browse the Montana Gift Corral shop for last minute presents and buy snacks for your flight.
