Baltimore is one of the most popular destinations for tourists, famously known as the city where the lyrics for the Star Spangled Banner were written by Francis Scott Key. The city itself is huge, and is separated into nine very different Districts. Each with its own specific flavour and sights that will blow you away.
Baltimore is full of history and a visit to any of the excellent museums will explain why. The Inner Harbour is where most of the museums are situated and also home to the fantastic National Aquarium, where you will see a vast array of marine life. Any of the Districts within the city offer wonderful restaurants, with a wide choice of very tasty dishes, from steamed crab to the Baltimore pit beef sandwich and with a vibrant nightlife, there is something for everyone’s taste. The stunning skyline of skyscrapers and modern architecture will have you gazing in awe and should definitely be seen at night for the full experience. The Market Place, which is near to the harbour, offers all kinds of fresh fish and seafood bars but all offer local and international dishes.
Getting around the city can be done by public transport but to get the most of your visit, it is recommended that you hire a car, that way you are not tied to timetables and you can see this fabulous city at your leisure. Baltimore offers visitors plenty of hospitality and with a near perfect climate, makes it a pleasure to see any time of the year.
The Baltimore-Washington International Airport is situated a few miles from the city itself, so organizing a rental car beforehand is wise. Then you can guarantee that you will not miss anything and you can enjoy your stay and take away some wonderful memories of this great city.
