"Hire a car for your journey to Bodrum or use it to explore the historic city and region of Milas."

Milas-Bodrum Airport is the choice of many holidaymakers destined for the beaches of Bodrum. The area is steeped in history and others spend their time in nearby Milas, rich in Roman and Byzantine history. The Milas area is credited with having 27 archaeological sites of special interest.

The city itself is built on Mount Sodra from which came much of the white marble used to build the temples of the area. In the city, your hire car will help you reach the Roman ‘Gate of the Axe’, so called because of the image of a double-headed axe on a keystone.

Bodrum Milas Airport Mini Guide

The Airport in Brief
25 miles outside of the resort of Bodrum you’ll find Milas-Bodrum Airport which is actually closer to Milas (10 miles). The airport is mostly seasonal and handles around three million passengers a year. Expansion plans are well on their way to doubling the capacity by the end of 2011. The airport is easy to find and has a limited number of parking spaces outside each terminal including disabled parking.

Getting There
Dozens of airlines fly to the airport but they are mostly seasonal chartered flights. Turkish Airlines, amongst others, provide year round scheduled flights and easyJet fly several routes there from the UK.

How do I get to my Destination From the Airport?
There is no railway station at the airport and so you must rely on bus or taxi. The transport authorities seem to want to make life difficult (or expensive) as your only choices to get to Bodrum are the Havas shuttle which you can only use if you are a Turkish Airlines passenger or the airport shuttle bus which makes several stops on the way to Bodrum city centre. There isn’t a local bus service from the airport and taxis are often touted as the best means of transport even though it will cost you €40 for a one way trip.

By far the best option (and the cheapest!) is to hire a car from the airport. The companies’ desks are easily found in the arrivals hall and pre-booking is essential as many choose this option. Try to send a group member through to start the paperwork otherwise, especially at peak times, you’ll be in a very long queue. Getting to your destination is straight forward. The airport road joins onto the main Bodrum to Milas highway, the D330 which will take you into the centre of each city.

I Have Some Questions at the Airport
To ask questions about your onward journey or anything airport related find the airport information desk in the public area of the international terminal. Lost luggage should also be reported here or to the airport handling agents as there is no dedicated desk for this.

What Facilities are There?
There are no banks at the airport but there is a branch of a currency exchange company together with a couple of ATMs.

For a modern international airport, shopping there is quite poor. There are a few gift shops selling souvenirs and Turkish Delight plus a duty free shop with a small but ample selection of spirits, cigarettes and cigars, perfumes and cosmetics plus sundry other items.

Eating at the restaurant should be avoided where possible. Many passengers complain about the high price of food and drink there, often ten times what you paid in the resorts. There is only one café/restaurant called North Shield which purports to be like an English pub. It sells hot, cold and alcoholic drinks together with fast food items and sandwiches.

If first aid is required, you should contact a member of the airport staff who will find a trained first aider for you.

Wi-Fi is currently unavailable at the airport.

Mobility Help
Having a modern terminal, the airport has been designed with the needs of less mobile passengers in mind. Easy access is available to check in desks and there are a number of disabled toilets. Staff are on hand to assist but the airport requests at least two days’ notice to be able to offer full help.
