Adana has existed for thousands of years but head out of the city in your hire car and pass through the Cilician gates, a natural entrance to the Cilicia Plain and you’ll come to the many ancient cities of the plain which are steeped in the history of conquest. Magarsus, Ayas and Commana, to name but a few, are high on the historian’s must see list.
For those more interested in leisure, join the locals relaxing by the lake near the city or head for Aqualand where the kids will love the slides and pools.

Being the agricultural capital of the south, there are the large expansive flat plains of Yuregir supporting the hugely fertile land. This is mainly due to the superb irrigation from the Seyhan reservoir.
Climb up Taurus Mountains and around 4000 foot above sea level you can visit the Cilician Gates. It is a rocky pass which many armies have used to their advantage during historical battles.
Having a Mediterranean climate, temperatures can reach 39 degrees Celsius, therefore hiring a car with air conditioning is a sensible choice!
