Marbella is one of the most expensive and smartest resorts on the Costa Del Sol with numerous designer shops and upmarket restaurants.  There are plenty of hotels from which to choose although Villas tend to be more popular in this area, you will find very centrally located hotels though some of which are accessed via escalators above the shopping areas.  Marbella has its own long beach along with all the usual watersports, bars and restaurants and still has the `old quarter` which is typical in its Andalucian style.  Shops tend to be very expensive here so for the discerning tourist it is probably to look further afield when shopping.  You will see countless dogs being carried around in handbags whilst their owners shop for their designer clothes.
