More Than Just sea, sun and Sangria
Welcome to Magaluf on the southwest coast of Mallorca (or Majorca). It’s a highly popular package holiday destination for young Europeans, predominantly from the UK and Scandinavia. Despite its reputation as more of a Club 18-30's holiday resort, Magaluf is also family-friendly. The fabulous weather, the crystal blue Mediterranean and the white sandy beach offer a great base from which to indulge in activities, tour around or simply relax by day and party by night.
How do I get There?
Flights go into Mallorca's airport at the capital city, Palma. The transfer across to Magaluf takes around 25 minutes. You can take a regular bus route, a taxi or an organised transfer, the latter of which tends to take a little longer. Hiring a car is a great way to reach the resort quickly and also offers the freedom to escape the bustle of the city party scene and enjoy the beautiful Mallorcan countryside. If you have hired a car through Rhino, collect it at the desks in airport arrivals and the island’s delights are at your mercy.
Designed for fun
In the height of the summer season fiesta fever runs high with numerous bars, clubs and other fun party venues lining the streets. Many famous DJs are frequent guests at the resort, playing great music and party anthems until the small hours. The Puna Ballena strip is the place for serious party-goers. BCM is a 3 floored club on the Avenida S'Olivera and is the largest club on the island, offering regular foam and other themed parties. If you are into live music, get yourself down to Mallorca Rocks, which takes place on Tuesday nights at the Mallorca Rocks Hotel and features many popular visiting bands.
What Else can I do?
The shallow waters around the coast make it a great place to enjoy water sports of all kinds. Try scuba diving, jet skiing, or if you prefer to stay dry a glass-bottomed boat trip is for you. If you want a break from the beach but still want to stay cool, there are two water parks within easy reach as well as the Nemo Submarine Adventure Park. The House of Katmandu is literally an upside-down mansion from the outside and offers a rather unusual experience and almost has to be seen to be believed. Go horse-riding, or if you prefer to be more in control jump into a go-kart. Those wanting a physical challenge might like to try a swim to Black Lizard Island in the centre of the bay. The streets are lined with little shops selling souvenirs from tasteful to tacky, therefore seasoned shoppers will want to venture across to Palma for a more serious fix of retail therapy.
